Purpose  There has been a significant increase in Lean Six Sigma (LSS) research and academic literature during the last decades.  However, the application of LSS in the food sector has not been widely reviewed, while the existing literature reviews focus on limited issues.  Stimulated by this gap, the present study aims to demystify the relation of Lean Six Sigma and Food Safety Management Systems and structurally identify the sustainable drivers, that can critically contribute efficient safe food safety production .
